Being from Virginia, I've been to Shenandoah National Park more times than I can count. I love the mountains, and the Blue Ridge has always been a special place to me.
One of my loftier life goals is to visit all of the National Parks. I've been to Shenandoah, obviously.
And the Great Smoky Mountains.
And Acadia.
But for now that might be it. With two small kids and the financial strains of daycare, travel is difficult, but I'm hoping once they're a little older we'll keep chipping away.
The first sticker I ever designed was this one:
An homage to my beloved Blue Ridge and my love for knitting, two things that always inspire me. Totally selfish design, but it resonated with a lot of people and I got a lot of positive feedback from it.
So, I started thinking, if knitters are being drawn to these blue mountains of the Appalachians, maybe there are other special places they want to connect with. And it hit me, what's a more special place than a national park?
I've decided to embark on a series, starting with the parks I have actually been to and then the parks that are the most well-known. My original mountains sticker is now the Shenandoah sticker, and the Great Smoky Mountains sticker releases this weekend! One of my strongest memories at GSM was climbing up the Clingman's Dome observation tower. It's a pretty major landmark in the park, so I included it as part of my sticker design.
Keep an eye out for Acadia in October!
